Why do you see it?
The blue dot that occasionally shows up at the bottom of your browser window is something that you have probably seen before, but have probably never stopped to ask yourself why it’s there. In fact, many people just assume it’s some sort of glitch and don’t think about what it means. But did you know that there are actually several different explanations for what exactly those little blue dots represent on YouTube? Read on to learn more. What does it mean?: The small circle is a user indicator or a cookie as its sometimes referred to. This allows sites like Google or YouTube to remember who you are and customize certain aspects of their site based on your previous activity (for example, if you logged in). This isn’t anything new—most websites do it—but they’re also used in video games such as World of Warcraft, so they’ve gotten a bad rap lately due to privacy concerns.
Will it hurt my channel?
Restricted Mode is a setting that gives users more control over what they can or cannot see when they are watching videos. When you set your restricted mode setting to Off, your videos will be visible in search results, can be recommended and will show up in playlist recommendations. However, they won’t show up on related videos pages or in user-uploaded content. This setting is intended for use by those who prefer not to have their videos mixed with potentially mature content. The changes will take effect within 24 hours of submitting your request. Note: Restricted mode changes only apply to viewers of your channel. They do not apply to other accounts that may share any of your video’s URLs (such as embedded players). Please keep in mind that if another account shares one of your videos, people can still find it using search queries or suggestions. In addition, if someone has copied any of your video’s URLs and posted them elsewhere online (for example: Facebook), these versions will continue to appear in restricted mode even after you submit a request through Video Manager.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to hide a blue dot from appearing if you have Google or YouTube telling everyone you exist. Both sites use a feature called your Google Business Profile as part of their search results. This tool lets people find out more information about your business including hours, services offered, reviews and even a link to your website. In some cases, it can also display a little blue dot next to your name that tells people where you are in real life. If you don’t want other people to be able to find you with just one click on Google, there are two ways to get rid of it: by connecting an existing local business listing or signing up for free through an unclaimed listing. For example, if you run a dog walking service but haven’t claimed your page yet, go ahead and do so now! That should do it. You might also want to take advantage of some of these features while you’re at it: make sure your profile has accurate contact info; add photos; add detailed service information; include customer testimonials; list relevant awards or press coverage (if applicable); post updates regularly (like announcing new promotions); and check back often because both Google and Yelp like businesses that frequently update their profiles.
The blue dot signifies that you’ve subscribed to a channel. You can click or tap it if you would like to unsubscribe from said channel. In either case, there’s no harm in unsubscribing from channels with whom you no longer wish to stay connected.
